Description Technical Specs

Features are the same as the SR125e, new driver, cable and housing designs, but this headphone has an increased rear air flow, utilizes Grado's larger ear cushion and has closer matched drivers. Air flow is increased by 50% which is achieved through an improved rear metal screen. The use of closer matched drivers and the larger cushions results in an enlarged soundstage, while the improved rear screen frees the headphone from colorations.

5 of 5 I want to hear everything through these. May 25, 2020

Still have a perfectly good pair of SR80's that are a few years old but I bought these as a second pair since there are so many uses for them around the house. Home theater, desktop gaming, Youtube videos, etc. I'm no audio engineer, I just know everything sounds better through Grado headphones.

A dream. Total meditation as I plug in to the stereo & listen to vinyl. Shipping was insanely fast too. Thank you, Grado family.

5 of 5 Outstanding Headphones! May 20, 2020
Reviewer: Peter
Just got these 2 days ago, and Wow I’m really impressed. First of all; I have always used closed back headphones. I wanted a pair of open back but wasn’t sure which ones to try. I thought that the Grados were very unique and original looking. So, I decided on the 225e. I’m hearing sounds in my music now that just weren’t there with my closed headphones . The Grados really bring out all the detailed sound from the music. I don’t like boomy bass headphones, I usually prefer a brighter sound. The Grados give me the brighter sound and the bass sounds just right. Also, I do use a headphone amp and I don’t have to turn up the volume very far with the Grados. I had to turn up the volume much higher with my closed headphones , but not with the Grados. I would highly recommend the 225e to anyone looking for a quality sounding pair of open back headphones.

4 of 5 Outstanding sound, uncomfortable headpad May 7, 2020
Reviewer: Scott Bowen from Yuma, AZ United States
The SR225e is an amazing sounding headphone. Coming from the normal, big box store brands to the Grado SR225e was quite an eye opening experience. The sound is amazing and you will find more detail in your music.

However, the comfort level of the stock headband is not good. For as light as the headphones are, I had a noticeable sore spot on the tip of my head after an hour.

After replacing the headband with a AHG HB2 XL Headband Cushion pad for around $29, the problem was solved. This is my only complaint.

I do not understand how a $200 set of headphones can be less comfortable compared too a $30 set of Skullcrusher headphones. I understand paying for sound quality,  but if the headphones are not comfortable enough to wear, the sound quality does not matter.
