Description Technical Specs
The Green2 uses a three piece OTL cantilever that has a Grado specific diamond mounted on a brass bushing.

What's the difference between Black2 and Green2?
Approximately 15% of the Black2 production run meet higher specifications. These are hand selected from the batch and designated as Green2.

Grado’s OTL, or optimized transmission line, technology provides an ideal transfer of signal from the surface of the LP to the generator of the system. This technology rejects unwanted resonances and lowers distortion preserving the fundamental and harmonic frequencies of the music. This also helps keep noise generated by the motor system in the cartridge to a minimum.

Grado’s OTL stylus/cantilever design makes records sound quieter, improves the height, width, and depth of the soundstage, and present more detail than previously obtainable.

The Green2 is hand assembled by Grado's team in Brooklyn, with some builders having over 25 years of experience. This updated series of cartridges offers excellent tonal balance, dynamics, and realism, for a most rewarding reproduction of vocals and instruments. The coil winding techniques using ultra high purity copper wire, which were honed during the development of the Lineage Series, have let the electrical circuits achieve unison between the four coils in each phono cartridge. This allows for a precise balance between channels and accurate stereo imaging.

As in all Grado phono cartridges the Green2 is powered by a twin magnet system that optimizes the balance between stereo channels. All internal magnetic circuit parts are held to extremely high tolerances creating the desired stereo imaging. Grado’s patented Flux-Bridger design allows the Green2 to have one of the lowest effective moving mass generating systems while creating an excellent balance throughout the full frequency range.

5 of 5 Grado Green2 July 9, 2019

Outstanding cartridge and a very noticeable upgrade to the audio technica I was using. P-mount cartridge easy to install. Very surprising sound for a budget cartridge! Outstanding bass response and a sweet, open top end! Highly recommended!

4 of 5 Good upgrade from AT-95E June 20, 2019

I bought a Grado Green2 as an upgrade for the cartridge (AT-95E) that came with my inexpensive TEAC TN-300SE turntable, which has a built-in phono preamp.

The Green2 has a balanced, mellow, musical sound. It reveals more detail than the AT-95E, and it is much better controlled with instruments like the vibraphone.

Caveat: My Green2 produced a low-level hum when no record was playing and the volume was at maximum. I moved my turntable from 16 inches away from my amp to 28 inches away, and the hum became almost inaudible. Hum is a non-issue when a record is playing at a reasonable volume level.

Update:  I have since replaced the Green2 with a cartridge that has better detail and high-frequency extension. I also upgraded to a Mani phono preamp.

5 of 5 Sounds wonderful February 17, 2019

I had forgotten how bright and clear these cartridges sound until I finally ordered a replacement for my old first gen black that died on me. The sound is bright, warm, and brings out detail you miss with cheaper offerings. I have an old (circa ‘70) Shure M91 that performs well, and this one sounds as if someone removed the cotton from my ears upon comparison. You can’t go wrong at this price point.

I didn't care for the Stanton 300 series that was on a turntable I recently purchased. Decided to try a Grado and was very pleased in my choice. All sound is well defined. I heartily endorse this product.
