Better than expected... August 15, 2017
Reviewer: Peter C. from San Francisco, CA United States
Needed a high output, mono cartridge for old and new vinyl.  This was recommended by several users and Absolute Sound in 2013 and 2014.  Might be a little shy with the very upper frequencies, but extremely musical and much better than expected!  Note, Grados  do not work well on all turntables!  I have a direct drive, Yamaha turntable with a medium light, well-damped straight tonearm which works very well!  (Besides my VPI, main system turntable).

Excellent! June 16, 2017

I purchased this to listen to new and used mono recordings for the first time in years..  Based on multiple ratings, this unit was the ideal choice in its price range.  In addition, I purchased the Grado 78 for those vintage 78s!.  As a professional musician, I appreciate the warmth of a mono recording and the natural sound that the MC+ provides.  The reviews of the Grado brand in comparison to other fine cartridges equals or exceeds those ratings.  Of course, what you hear is most important and each ear is different.  Very satisfied with both products.  I look forward to the purchase of upper level Grado cartridges in the future.

Grado mc+ makes mono' sound right. February 17, 2017
Reviewer: William Miebach from NY, NY United States
I'm overall quite pleased with this cartridge. From the first spin my vintage mono's sounded "correct", with a nicely focused center image, and with an unexpected amount of depth and musical overtones present. Sweet mids and musical bass, with just a slight hint of bass lag perceptable on percusive jazz with a strong double bass line, but not really perceptable on classical. Tracks cleanly on inner grooves as well. Far superior to playing mono's on considerably more expensive stereo carts. There's literally no competion at its price. Thankfully it's good! Grado was responsive to questions after the purchase as well.

Mono Cartridge provides a clear advantage. April 27, 2015

The Grado Prestige Mono Phono Cartridge Model MC+ is an excellent option for mono albums.  It offers the same great sound as other Grado products, but with a lower level of noise.  It's very quiet.  If you listen to a lot of older records this cartridge is great.

Back to Mono August 26, 2014

I bought a 78C cartridge a couple years ago & have been very happy with its performance. That's what led me to try the MC+ Mono cart.
First record I played was an original EX copy of Miles Davis, "Round About Midnight". The sound was warm and focused. The 2nd record was Frank Sinatra, "Songs for Young Lovers" LP also in EX condition. Once again, the music was tight and vocals had good presence.
This cart tracks perfectly at 1.5g and was easy to setup.
My only complaint is that the high frequencies are a bit subdued/suppressed. This is especially noticeable where a ride cymbal is being played.
Perhaps this is due to the conical shaped stylus on the MC+. I wonder if the elliptical stylus (on the ME+) would deliver more pronounced highs.
