Designed for state-of-the-art performance and specifically to play Grados, the new RA1 will allow you to hear your headphones like never before. This new amp is machined from a solid block of mahogany and measures 5" wide, 5 1/2" deep and 1 1/2" tall and weighs in at 12 oz. The RA1 Battery is powered by two 9-Volt batteries that will drive the amp for 40 to 50 hours of listening pleasure. And the sound? Just like all Grados: warm, smooth, full-bodied, non-fatiguing and rich. Hook it up to any line source (portable or in-home) and drive your Grado headphones to their full potential.

Horrible product & Customer Service August 26, 2016

Straight out of the box it had a static-y, buzzing sound that remained even when listening to audio.  Grado took MONTHS to fix the unit and returned it even worse.  Eventually, after additional MONTHS, they replaced it.  The new unit is ok but still has that static-y, fuzzy, buzzing sound but it is much less pronounced and pretty much goes away after turning on audio.  But, if you listen very closely you can still hear some.  I paired it with Grado GH1 headphones.  I also have a Grado cartridge in my turntable.  The cartridge and headphones are great but I wouldn't buy Grado again because I don't trust their customer service to provide competent and prompt service.

Great pair April 22, 2015

I have the RS2E and the RA1 really makes these things sound amazing. The RA1 feels very "home brew", it does not feel like its mass produced in a factory, hardware wise. The on/off switch noise is not very obtrusive. Good product.
